About Malayala Manorama

Malayala Manorama – Kerala’s Favorite Newspaper

Malayala Manorama is the most popular Malayalam newspaper of the country and has a readership over 16 million. The newspaper was launched as a weekly during 1890. But it became a news daily shortly after owing to its growing popularity.  Manorama Group, owners of Malayala Manorama also releases two other publications called the The Week and Manorama Yearbook.

Reasons for popularity:

Malayala Manorama made a mark in the newspaper fraternity due to its honest reporting policy.  It was this attitude that urged Manorama to remain at the forefront during the India’s struggle against the British Empire.  However the publication had to pay a heavy price for following freedom of expression as they were banned for nine long years.  Malayala Manorama never needed to look back once it reappeared on the scene post independence.

Today this newspaper published in Kerala reaches to readers all across the state and other cities of the country. In fact Malayala Manorama has also introduced a Gulf edition for readers settled in the Middle East.

Growth of advertising in Malayala Manorama:

Malayala Manorama has a gross readership over 16 million and covers cities like Kozhikode, Trivandrum, Kochi, Kottayam, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai etc. In addition to this, this Malayali newspaper has also received widespread acceptance in the Gulf region. All these factors make Malayala Manorama an ideal choice for booking newspaper classifieds.

Competition:

Mathrubhumi & Kerala Express are the two main regional newspapers that compete against Malayala Manorama within Kerala.  Manorama also faces some stiff competition from English broadsheets like Times Of India in the north and Hindu in the Southern half.
